Some people prefer to have thermostats tucked out of the way and inconspicuous. Because some smart thermostats rely on motion-detection technology to “learn” the behaviors of you and your family, smart thermostats need to be centrally located.

But don’t worry, they’re still inconspicuous, and some, like the Nest, are even attractive.
