Control Your Smart Thermostat From Anywhere

October 11, 2013

I’m not a fan of winters in general, but my favorite part of winter is sleeping under a heavy down comforter in a cold, cold room. It feels healthy to me. And it makes me feel like I’m hibernating.

But what I don’t love is waking up and trying to get ready for my day in the icy cold.

You know what would be amazing? If I could roll over when my alarm (on my iPhone) rings, turn off the alarm (or hit “snooze” more likely), pull up an app and tell my thermostat that I’d like it to be a little toastier in a few minutes.

Sounds like The Jetsons, doesn’t it? But this technology has been available for a few years and it keeps getting less expensive.

Not only that, but a smart thermostat would pay for itself in as little as a year by saving you money on your utilities bills.

It’s a pretty easy DIY installation, if you’re okay with working with electricity and technology.

But we can build your Taylor Home with this technology in mind and install it for you.

What does that mean?

Some people prefer to have thermostats tucked out of the way and inconspicuous. Because some smart thermostats rely on motion-detection technology to “learn” the behaviors of you and your family, smart thermostats need to be centrally located.

But don’t worry, they’re still inconspicuous, and some, like the Nest, are even attractive.
