Employee Spotlight: Janet Felts

This month, we are proud to shine a spotlight on Janet Felts, one of our dedicated Sales Assistants at Taylor Homes. With a remarkable background and an unwavering commitment to our clients, Janet plays a crucial role in our sales process.

Janet’s Background & Family Life

Residing in Georgetown, KY, Janet has lived most of her life in this vibrant community, where she grew up on a farm. Her nurturing spirit shines brightly through her extensive experience as an educator, having taught Kindergarten for 21 years and first grade for 7 years at a local school in Scott County. Her educational background includes a BA from Transylvania University and a Master’s in Elementary Education, demonstrating her dedication to teaching and learning. 

Janet is a proud mother to four children and a grandmother to 11 grandchildren! She loves her family very much and enjoys spending quality time with them.

Janet’s Role at Taylor Homes

In her role at Taylor Homes, Janet excels in keeping our Design Center inviting and organized, ensuring that our displays are pleasing to the eye. She takes the initiative to reach out to prospective clients, answering their questions and providing essential information. Janet also coordinates appointments for Lot Walks and assists clients with their design and color selections, always striving to make them feel comfortable and informed throughout the process.

Personal Strengths

One of Janet’s greatest strengths is her patience and empathy for others and her ability to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone she meets. She embraces the philosophy of giving grace, inspired by her life mantra, “there, but for the grace of God, go I.” This foundation of compassion, combined with her keen attention to detail, makes her an invaluable member of our team.

Personal Interests

When she’s not guiding clients through their home design selections at Taylor Homes, she enjoys reading, watching game shows, playing trivia and card games, and spending quality time with her beloved family and Maltese/Shi-Tzu, Tillie. Janet also has a soft spot for the music of the ’60s and ’70s, and she loves the charm of Charleston, SC. While she may not travel extensively, she dreams of exploring Paris and the UK. Her favorite food is steak, and she also enjoys shrimp and grits (if fixed the right way) and a good ripe country tomato! Her favorite restaurant is Rodneys on Broadway in Georgetown (since there’s no more ChopHouse).
