Guide to Returning Gifts

It’s not uncommon to get a gift during the holiday season that isn’t always our most favorite. Though we can return gifts, the policies must be followed properly. It may be hard though when someone else purchased the gift and the receipt is not in reach or has been thrown away.

Here are some stores and what we found on their return policies.

Amazon

You may return most new, unopened items sold and fulfilled by Amazon within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. During the holidays, items shipped by Amazon between November 1st and December 31st can be returned until January 31st.

Target

Most unopened items in new condition and returned within 90 days will receive a refund or exchange. Some items have a modified return policy noted on the receipt.

Returns and exchanges without a receipt may be limited. Other restrictions may apply. If you’re not satisfied with any Target Owned Brand item, return it within one year with a receipt for an exchange or a refund. All Electronics and Entertainment items must be returned within 30 days for a refund or exchange.

Wal-Mart

Generally, merchandise purchased in store or on Walmart.com can be returned or exchanged within ninety days of purchase with or without a receipt. Click here for exceptions to the general ninety day rule.
