In recent years the Thursday before Derby has been dubbed “Thurby.” Locals have taken to attending on this day because Oaks Day, Louisville’s original day at the Downs has been increasingly more popular with out of town guests.
Of course the Friday before is Oaks Day and rounding out the festival is the Kentucky Derby.
