MOTOR DOWN TO THE NATIONAL CORVETTE MUSEUM

“Get your motor running!”

America’s Sports Car: Since 1953 the Corvette has been America’s Sports Car. The National Corvette Museum (NCM) was established as nonprofit foundation with a mission of celebrating the invention of the Corvette; preserving its past, present and future; and educating the public about Corvette.

Corvette fanatics from all over the world kindly and lovingly refer to the NCM as their home and the “Gateway to All Things Corvette.”

Celebrating 20 years of growth and changes, the 20th Anniversary of the National Corvette Museum August 27-30, 2014, will be celebrated with the arrival of the National Corvette Caravans with participants from all over the world.  As with past Labor Days this celebration is a member-driven event, which unites friends, family and enthusiasts for a look back on the Museum’s history and future! Those registered can enjoy the Museum with its many displays. Join us for our Grand Opening of the new NCM Motorsports Park with scheduled parade laps around the road course. Many scenic self-guided road tours to choose from, special video presentations and seminars, raffles, the annual open Membership meeting and more during this event in honor of your help and support!

The “Sinkhole”

It’d be a crime not to mention the sinkhole that swallowed up numerous classic Corvettes earlier this year. As a concept, sinkholes are terrifying—the solidity of the earth beneath your feet suddenly is in question. February 2014, a 40 ft. by 60 ft. one opened up under the National Corvette Museum in Kentucky and swallowed a roomful of classic cars. Fortunately, nobody was hurt and only one or two cars were severely damaged, though it took eight weeks for the museum to find and extract the cars.

The upside? Tourism is booming. Between February and May, Quartz reports, visits increased by 50%. The museum plans to keep the sinkhole open for viewing through the summer, including during its 20th anniversary celebration in August.

Experience first-hand the passion and the excitement of America’s Sports Car, the Chevrolet Corvette:

The GM Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant, the only place in the world where Corvettes are made, is located across the street from the National Corvette Museum at I-65, exit 28.350 Corvette Dr. Bowling Green, KY 42101‎ (270) 781-7973 corvettemuseum.org
