Traveling Safely This Memorial Day Weekend

This Memorial Day, we remember those who have lost their lives serving in our armed forces. In observance of this holiday, people often travel to see family/friends and enjoy the freedom, that those who have passed on, fought for. If you and your family are traveling anywhere this weekend, here are some tips on how to make sure your holiday weekend is safe and memorable!

  • Get Your Car Ready – Get your car checked before going on a road trip. When you have a long road ahead (or maybe a short one), you want to make sure you’ve checked your car for necessary items. Also, don’t forget to pack some road-snacks!
  • Chart the Course – Ensure you either have printed out directions or a map ready, in the case that technology fails (and your phone GPS dies). Although GPS is an amazing tool, you want to make sure you’ve got all you need to succeed on your own, in the case of technological failure.
  • Car Entertainment – Make sure, especially if you have children traveling with you, that you find a way for them to stay occupied in the car, for everyone’s sake! Check here for games that are great for car rides.
  • Plan for Weather – Even though Memorial Day weekend is known for spending time outside, know what weather is expected ahead! That way, even if you choose to embark, you have the proper attire and resources to make sure you still have a great time.

Most of all, don’t forget to honor and remember those who have lost their lives in the armed forces this weekend. Also, have a fun trip!
