5 Alternative Ways to Cook a Turkey

Happy Thanksgiving! Turkey Day is this Thursday and we’re here to share 5 alternative ways to cook a Turkey this year.

Instant Pot

If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to cook your Thanksgiving turkey, using an Instant Pot could be a great option. Not only is it a faster cooking method, but it also results in a moist and flavorful bird. To get started, simply season your turkey with your favorite spices and place it in the Instant Pot with some broth or water. Cook for around 6-7 minutes per pound and allow the pressure to release naturally for about 15 minutes before removing the turkey from the pot. With this method, you’ll have a tender and delicious turkey in no time!

Deep Fried

Deep frying a turkey has become a popular Thanksgiving tradition in recent years. To deep fry a turkey, heat the oil to 350°F, slowly lower the turkey into the hot oil, and cook for around 3-4 minutes per pound until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. Use caution when removing the turkey from the fryer and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.

Grilled

Grilling a turkey for Thanksgiving is a great alternative to the traditional oven-roasting method. To grill a turkey, first prepare the grill for indirect heat by lighting the burners on one side of the grill and leaving the other side unlit. Season the turkey with your favorite spices and place it on the unlit side of the grill, with a drip pan underneath to catch any drippings. Close the lid and cook for 12-15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. Baste the turkey occasionally with melted butter or oil to keep it moist. Let the turkey rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.

Smoked

Smoking a turkey for Thanksgiving is a delicious and unique way to cook this holiday staple. The smoking process infuses the turkey with a smoky flavor and creates a crispy skin that is sure to impress your guests. To smoke a turkey, you’ll need a smoker and some wood chips of your choice. First, brine the turkey overnight to ensure it stays moist during the long cooking process. Then, season the turkey with your favorite spices and place it in the smoker at a temperature of around 225°F. Smoke the turkey for approximately 30 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. The result will be a flavorful and tender turkey that your family and friends will love.

Air fried

Air frying a turkey for Thanksgiving is a healthier and quicker alternative to traditional roasting. To air fry a turkey, first season it with your favorite spices and place it in the air fryer basket. Cook the turkey at 350°F for approximately 10-12 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. Unlike roasting, air frying eliminates the need for oil and produces crispy skin without compromising the moist and tender meat. Plus, the air fryer frees up your oven for other dishes, making it a convenient option for a busy Thanksgiving meal. Give it a try this year and enjoy a delicious turkey!

From our family to yours, we hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving this year!
