Employee Spotlight: Joel Cruz

At Taylor Homes, we have a lot of amazing employees that we greatly appreciate. We would like to spotlight one employee, in particular, Joel Cruz.

Joel was born in California and raised in North Carolina. Both of his parents are from Mexico, so Spanish was actually his first language. He learned English when he started school. Growing up, he was surrounded by many trades, from painting to remodeling to being a business owner/operator. During his past experiences, he has gained various skills and techniques that have equipped him well in his position today at Taylor Homes.

Joel loves everything about building, from start to finish. He loves that you can take a vision and turn it into a reality; someone’s brand-new dream home.

His day-to-day responsibilities include a multitude of tasks, from conversing with subcontractors, homeowners, the office, and vendors to working hands-on in the field. There is always something to be done, and it’s his responsibility to make sure that our contractors in the field are on the same page and to create a more efficient workflow.

In his free time, Joel loves spending time at home and just unwinding. In the warmer months, he likes to go fishing, camping, and hiking. He loves dogs and has a 7-year-old Pomsky named Luna who always puts a smile on his face. His favorite food is Mexican since it’s his culture, and he grew up eating it.

Joel’s favorite quality about himself is his ability to learn. He always asks questions and loves to learn how to do something new or do something better and understand why. It helps him tremendously, and he wouldn’t be where he is today without it.
