Employee Spotlight with Shelley Morris

Shelley Morris, Vice President of Sales, joined Taylor Homes in 2012 as Executive Assistant to the CEO (Chris Taylor), promoted to Sales Coordinator, promoted again to Sales Manager, then promoted to VP of Sales and now manages a Team of 13 awesome New Home professionals!

Shelley was born and raised in Louisville and worked for her father’s desktop publishing business while in high school as the Administrative Assistant. She then began her career at the age of 18 with Hillard Lyons as the Executive Assistant to the Senior Vice President of Financial Services. While there, she was promoted to Licensing Coordinator, Operations Manager and then Sales/Marketing Manager for the Annuities Division.

After taking a few years off of to raise her two children, Zoe and Noah, Shelley worked for a Commercial Development Group and then joined Taylor Homes in 2012.

When asked what her favorite part of the job is, Shelley said “So many parts! Working with my amazing Team, helping clients realize their dreams, and knowing I work for a company that looks out for everyone on its Team and always looking to do the best for our customers.”

Her advice for first-time home buyers and any home buyer is “don’t think you can’t pull it off!”  “Taylor Homes offers amazing programs for first-time home buyers and there are some new tax credits coming available that can allow folks to possibly finance land and construction for no money down. My second piece of advice is to be patient and let us deal with the ups and downs, because in construction you will have both. Keep your eye on the prize – you will be living in a home that YOU designed to fit your needs that is unlike anyone else’s!”

When not working, Shelley likes to shop, travel and hang out with her husband, binging their favorite shows and movies. She would like to travel back to Newport Beach, California and hopefully one day visit London.

Shelley has proven herself to be a leader on the Taylor Homes Team. Her hard work and dedication have led to success of the Team as well as the dream of new home ownership coming to fruition for our valued customers!
