Energy Smart: What do do about the cold months.

The colder months can cause lots of strain on your energy costs, especially if you aren’t careful.

We have some fantastic ways to ensure that you aren’t wasting your hard earned money on needless energy costs.

Check for drafts. Ensuring that a breeze isn’t flowing drafty windows is a big thing to be aware of, the more your furnace runs the more it costs you the homeowner.

Change out your air filters! Changing out the air filters ensures that your unit isn’t straining more than necessary, dirty air filters cause your unit to strain.

Install a programmable thermostat. Having your house automatically cool down at night and while you are away will take the guess work out of things for you and will help cut down on energy cost.

Turn off the lights! I know this seems silly, but when you leave a room turn off the lights. Instant savings!

Make sure drapes and furniture aren’t blocking the air vents. If the warm air can’t come into your room then it isn’t heating the room.
