The decision between buying an existing home or building a new one is among the first major decisions a prospective homeowner has to make. This decision will affect the house’s cost, safety and resale value. Buying an existing house certainly has some appeal, but there are other advantages that only come with starting from scratch.

Creative Control
One of the biggest advantages of building a house is the amount of creative control the homeowner can take over the process. Even if you choose to have a home built from an existing plan, you may be able to make changes based on your needs and tastes, such as the size and number of rooms, the style of decor and the exact position of the house relative to neighbors and the street.
